EPISODE 64
How Shame Limits Our Capacity to Receive with Rita Marie Mendez
How can we shift our mindset from one of self-doubt and limitation to one of empowerment and abundance?
This week I had the privilege of sitting down with the remarkable Rita Marie Mendez, a powerhouse of wisdom, resilience, and empowerment. As the founder of the Stop Bending Over podcast and a seasoned business coach, Rita's journey is a testament to the transformative power of self-discovery and self-empowerment.
She shares very vulnerably where she comes from and how that informs her work today. Instead of allowing her past to define her, Rita embarked on a journey of self-discovery and healing. Over the past 10 years, Rita has had the honor to coach and mentor hundreds of clients, supporting them in achieving six and seven figure businesses. She's helped them find more harmony, success and growth and release limiting beliefs that have held them back from having the life they desire.
The transformational journey of a lifetime is to just come back to the remembering of who you are. It's not about doing anything. It's just remembering who you are, which is this divine, unconditional, loving soul that came in to have this experience.
Rita emphasized the transformative power of awareness, acceptance, and aligned action in creating positive change. Of course, this is followed up with a lot of self-compassion and forgiveness for yourself. Remember, it’s a journey, not just a one and done thing my love.
By prioritizing self-care practices and nurturing a mindset of empowerment, women can unleash their full potential and thrive in both business and life.
When one woman remembers her worth, and that translates as wealth, she reminds the woman next to her of her worth and how that translates into wealth.
I resonated so much with Rita, in fact her story brought me to tears. Her being-ness is an example that there's always so much more that we came here to do even with the shittiest of circumstances. It really struck a chord with me when she shared her own struggles with perfectionism and overachievement, and the importance of recognizing and challenging the stories we tell ourselves.
I mean hellloooo, that’s what we do here! We live unperfected!
Did you know perfectionism and overachieving is a trauma response? YEP, it sure is.
One question Rita asked, and I love this so much, Are perfectionists born or made?
She shared that her narrative in her perfectionism was, I’ll never be like them. And underneath all of that, the shame that held it there was I’ll end up like them, broke.
We also dove deep into the concept of codependency and its impact on women's lives, exploring the tendency to say yes when we mean no, the role of shame in perpetuating codependent behaviors, and the importance of choosing from an empowered place.
As you continue on your own path of growth and self-discovery, I encourage you to remember Rita Marie's words of wisdom: that true liberation comes from within, and that we have the power to create the lives we truly desire. A life that we LOVE!
Mamas, we just barely scratched the surface with all this juicy information, there’s so much more to learn! I’ll. leave Rita Marie’s deets below and be sure to give her a follow for more inspiration on this beautiful journey we call life.
